"Wow, this is worse than the 19th Ward Square Fair"

, said Charlie upon seeing the set-up for the Chesterfield Kings' recent show in Canandaigua. Plenty of empty gazebos in that city, but they played in a big lean-to. I generally behaved myself, but it's probably true that Greg Prevost would have greeted Wick if I hadn't been there, hehehe. Wick claimed every redneck in town was there....no, not that many people were there, Wick. Some of the people I didn't talk to * were Rick Cona with bleached hair, Brian Goodman with little hair, Davey Anderson, two of the Gardiner sisters, and all four Couch Potatoes, I mean Chesterfield Kings. I talked to the other few people there I knew, including Charlie, Bob S. and that guy from Syracuse. St. Philip's Escalator stinks, worse that I'd thought they'd be. They are hard, crappy rock, not at all psychedelic. Kings were as usual ok then boring. I coulda been home watching Gunsmoke.
Then late to Vertex where I visited with the gang & met Rob's new boyfriend. Gary did an imitation of me. (!) I met up with Phillip and Rick and some of us stayed til closing.
*Ya know, some people don't recognize me, or pretend they don't, since my hair is blonde and I wear messy pigtails and an old t-shirt and jeans, nor do I weigh 92 pounds anymore...

Uh oh, does this mean that Roky Erickson and Sky Saxon are the next to die?

I hope not.
